Ukrainian Born Artist Exhibits Work

Antique ClockThe Artists Co-op features “The Color of Love” during the month of April, an exhibit showcasing the work of Ukrainian born artists Galina Milton.

Milton completed her art studies in America where she continues to bring her world view to the canvas. Oil on canvas as well as charcoal and pastels create portals to the cultures and people Galina has met on her travels. Her training in this country and Russia has given her a unique way of seeing the gentleness and love in a harsh world. Her new show “The Color of Love” reflects the happiness that she feels when she touches her brush to a painting. In this show she shares her observation that people have love in their hearts and crave beauty. Beauty that could not be expressed without color.

People and their relationships in the cycle of everyday life interest Galina the most. She likes her subjects to reflect reality, so her art is very recognizable and represents the beauty of the world she lives in. Galina’s methods and style come from her life experiences as a multicultural person. Color reflects her love of life. Her early education was in art history, followed years later by a Masters in Art from the Academy of Art, University in San Francisco.

Extensive travels to art museums around the world have made Galina realize that the world is changing. With the passage of time, subjects are never the same. But even as the subjects age and change, the one thing that remains constant is love and the human spirit which binds us all. Through her show “ The Color of Love”, Galina shares with us her childhood understanding that she gained in the museums of St. Petersburg: artists could create a moment of history or a moment in a common person’s day with the elegance and magnificent spirit of color. A creation that could be seen with his or her eyes many years after the artist was gone.

Also on exhibit are guest artists Brian Amme whose specialty is acrylic paintings of Nevada landscapes and Tetyana Anderson who works in various media.

The Artists Co-op Gallery will host an open Reception on Sunday April 4, from 1-4 p.m. for Galina Milton at 627 Mill Street, Reno, NV. The show runs from April 1-30.
