Roll Call for Boomers
Many boomers are hitting a point in life when they are giving up jobs and opting for encore careers, positions that bring meaning or fulfill a lifetime dream. “For some that means changing direction,” explains Gaynel Lynn, 51, makeup artists, Nevada Casting Group, Inc. “Boomer women want to feel good, look good, and achieve new goals.”

At the Nevada Women's Expo models ranging in age from 14 to 55 were doing just that, looking good and strutting their form in a fashion show sponsored by The Backstreet Boutique, in Truckee, CA. Models wore contemporary, colorful, trendy fashions, demonstrating that women of every age can feel good and be sexy.
“Women my age sometimes feel totally neglected,” explained Juli Green, 48, CEO of Nevada Casting. “This is about living and feeling good about yourself. Not feeling discounted.”
For women who have joined Nevada Casting, that means taking up acting or working in commercials. For others, it can be honing in on skills while seeking opportunities in print, commercials, television and film. “We offer mature talent as well as other age groups. Today our clients want mature actors that are healthy and active,” explained Andi Glover, director of Training. Glover says more mature talent is also looking to fill these new job opportunities. “People are coming in who put family and career first, and now they want to pursue acting. More women in their 50's and 60's are walking through our door. We provide talent for northern Nevada lifestyle ads,” she explained. “No age is too old.”
