The U.S. Department of Labor reports registered nurses, security guards and chiropractors make the list of the top 20 best part-time jobs for boomers. With boomers in line for more health care, the need for RNs is not surprising. Reduced work hours help boomers keep retirement afloat, but many retirees are finding part-time work is not enough in today's economic climate. Many with shrinking 401(k)s, and loss in nest egg savings are joining the workforce full-time.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, older workers are making a significant mark in the job market, competing with younger counterparts for both entry level positions at fast food restaurants and big box stores to more career oriented professions.
